To: "Dr. Doug Cowan, MFCC" dcowan@lightspeed.net Let me first say, that I have enjoyed getting your newsletter. I do not have any specific articles on diet control, but I have come across a few things which have helped my son immensely. My son, 17 years of age, has had a history of learning difficulties. It was only two years ago, he was finally diagnosed with ADHD. After several experiments with medicine, he is now on dexadrine. I have noticed that diet control is very significant in his life. Watching his sugars, caffeine, all the usual stuff is certainly important to him getting through the day. He seems to do well with a lot of proteins and carbohydrates -- he is able to settle down more easily after eating or drinking foods that are high in those two areas. There are a few other things that really have helped him. One being that he goes to a chiropractor and is being treated with kinesiology, and some massage therapy. Another is when he gets home from school he drinks his one and only coke of the day. This seems to help him relax. In addition, he is required to do some outside activity such as working in the yard, walking the dog, etc. before he can settle in to do his homework. At night he finds it difficult to settle down and drinking a large glass of milk helps him get to sleep. For the first time in his life he is know on the honor roll at his school. Not sure if this is of any help, but you never know.

Nutrition and diet to control ADD I have just finished sending off a huge mail about my experience with food, but I did some research on the person who did this, and crosslinked their qualifications, and came up with the following URL's:- What is Environmental Medicine? http://205.180.229.2/pan/pa/NaturalTherapies/aaem/aaem2.htm What Are Allergies? http://205.180.229.2/pan/pa/NaturalTherapies/aaem/aaem1.htm The person who did this was a Member American Academy of Environmental Medicine http://206.100.52.2/aaem--/ If I can help any further, please let me know Best wishes Sonja
